Kitty, kitty coming

Master of all I survey! Kuwait is filled with cats. You will rarely, if never, see a dog, but you will always see a few stray cats checking you out.

  5. Is the cat standing in the pot (or is that a rock with a crevice in it?) Our cat is always getting himself into all sorts of tight spots...

(btw I read a comment you made somewhere and learned you read the Enid Blyton books when you were little...me too! I loved all her books)

  10. Me, too. I love all animals (so I don't eat them) ;)

One possibility why they have few dogs there is that dogs are considered unclean by Muslims. At least here devout Muslims avoid contact with dog saliva. Even though Kuwait is more liberal compared to its neighbors, I wonder if that is the reason ..... Your posting made me curious to see if there is a basis in Qoran for this. I found some interesting posts (e.g. one post said - I found that a dog had licked my socks in which I have prayed, so what do I do now? OR, the previous resident had a dog so is it OK to stay in this house, etc). I found one site which mentioned a hadith (statement or action attributed to the Prophet) from Qoran which supports their view. But unfortunately I don't understand Arabic so I don't know what it means. And unfortunately, they have not given a number for the surah(chapter), otherwise I could have checked out the English translation.... I am sure if I search more I can find the reference, but I don't have time..... :(
